The Role

Our client is hiring a Controller who is responsible for managing financial requirements for multiple companies within the corporate umbrella. The Controller is responsible for maintaining an adequate system of accounting records to ensure the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, maintaining records for internal/external auditors and dealing with Government bodies at all levels. The Controller is a liaison between Finance and operating management that rely on this position for assistance.


Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements on a timely basis
  • Orchestrate and prepare annual audit with external auditors
  • Track project profitability
  • Daily Bank Reconciliation
  • Develop and implement effective risk assessment, risk management and mitigation plans for financial risks
  • Regular financial reporting and covenant compliance with lender
  • Timely reporting of monthly KPI’s to management team and the ownership group

Operating Functions

  • Plan and implement the processes, internal controls and systems needed to accurately report the financial results
  • Manage the monthly process of project progress billing
  • Manage and track supplier rebate programs
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable collections
  • Establish and monitor adherence to credit policies including credit limits for customers
  • Manage relationship and communication with lenders
  • As part of the audit lead the internal effort to ensure each project’s revenue is recognized appropriately for the fiscal year
  • Prepare budget forecasts
  • Manage annual process of obtaining appropriate commercial insurance coverage
  • Oversee A/P and Payroll processing


  • Responsible for all aspects of tax compliance including preparation and filing of returns for all types of tax including GST, PST, WorkSafeBC BC, payroll and income taxes.
  • Oversee audits performed by tax authorities


Experience Required

  • Professional accounting designation with a university degree specializing in finance.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience as a lead accountant/controller in an operating company
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures include the Generally

Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Professional accounting designation with a university degree specializing in finance.
