The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Red Seal or Apprentice Sprinkler Fittesr to lead and execute the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection sprinkler systems in various commercial, residential, and industrial settings. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Schedule materials, tools and personnel
• Instruct apprentices
• Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
• Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools
• Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment
• Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe, install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe in supports
• Service and repair sprinkler system
• Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
• Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
• Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
• Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size
• Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
• Select type and size of pipe required
• Test system for leaks using testing equipment
• Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

Requirements

• Valid Red Seal certification in Sprinkler Fitting or Apprentice Sprinkler Fitter
• Proven experience as a Sprinkler Fitter, with a strong track record of successful installations and repairs.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to perform the tasks required, including lifting heavy equipment and working at heights when necessary.
